The canonical role definitions for every seat in a CMG pod. Use these as the source of truth when recruiting, briefing recruiters, writing external job ads, or onboarding a new hire.

AI Developer

Builds the AI-enabled internal tools and client-facing automations that give CMG its delivery edge. Two per pod.

What you’ll do

  • Ship custom AI agents, custom platforms, eCommerce platforms (custom or Shopify), and bespoke automations for CMG client accounts — affiliate dashboards, ad creative pipelines, reporting tools, custom integrations.
  • Integrate against Shopify, Meta, TikTok, Klaviyo, Notion, Slack, and the rest of the modern DTC stack.
  • Debug production agents, monitor reliability, and own quality end-to-end — no “throw it over the wall”.
  • Partner with the Growth Marketer and Media Buyer to translate performance hypotheses into tools that test them faster.
  • Write tight, readable code that the next developer can ship on top of.

What you bring

  • Strong TypeScript and/or Python; comfortable in Next.js / React on the frontend.
  • Production experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) — tool use, structured output, RAG patterns.
  • Comfort with serverless deployment (Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase Edge Functions).
  • You can pick up a half-written project and ship it without hand-holding.
  • Async written communication that doesn’t require a follow-up call.

Nice to have

  • Shopify app or theme development experience.
  • Prompt engineering and evals for production AI systems.
  • Background in DTC ecommerce, performance marketing, or affiliate tech.

AI-Native Designer

Designs brand-aligned creative at agency speed using AI tools. Ads, landing pages, brand systems, social.

What you’ll do

  • Design paid ads (static + motion), landing pages, brand systems, and social assets for CMG client accounts.
  • Use Midjourney, Figma AI, Runway, and similar tools to compress the brief-to-mock cycle from days to hours.
  • Maintain Figma component libraries and brand kits for each client — designers after you should be able to ship without asking what hex code matches.
  • Partner with the Growth Marketer on creative direction and the Video Editor on multi-format delivery.
  • Sweat type, hierarchy, and composition — AI tools are not an excuse for sloppy fundamentals.

What you bring

  • 3+ years in-house or agency design experience, ideally for DTC or ecommerce brands.
  • Fluent in Figma; production-level component library skills.
  • Working knowledge of Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, or equivalent — you know when to use them and when not to.
  • Strong typography and visual systems thinking. Portfolio that shows you can hold a brand across many touchpoints.

Nice to have

  • Motion design (After Effects, Lottie).
  • Web design and basic HTML/CSS for landing pages.
  • Packaging or print experience.

Growth Marketer

Owns the client growth strategy: hypothesis, testing matrix, creative direction, performance narrative.

What you’ll do

  • Build the growth plan for each client account — channels, audiences, creative angles, testing matrix.
  • Write campaign briefs, headlines, and angles. Direct the Designer and Video Editor on creative output.
  • Partner with the Media Buyer on audience targeting, budget allocation, and weekly performance review.
  • Present weekly performance reports to clients with a clear narrative on what’s working and what we’re changing next.
  • Watch competitors, swipe what’s working, test fast.

What you bring

  • 3+ years performance marketing experience for DTC brands.
  • Native fluency in Meta Ads strategy — you think in audiences, creative angles, and learning phases.
  • You can write a brief and a headline. Both well.
  • Comfortable in client meetings — can explain a media plan to a non-marketer and a setback to a worried founder.

Nice to have

  • Email / lifecycle marketing (Klaviyo).
  • TikTok organic and creator-led growth.
  • SQL or comfort with raw performance data.

Performance Media Buyer

Runs paid media across Meta, Google, and TikTok. Owns ad account hygiene, daily spend, and weekly performance reporting.

What you’ll do

  • Build and launch ad sets following the Growth Marketer’s plan; manage daily spend, pacing, and budget allocation.
  • Run structured creative testing — matrices, learning phases, kill criteria.
  • Monitor ROAS daily; escalate underperforming campaigns before they burn budget.
  • Own ad account hygiene — naming conventions, pixel events, conversion tracking, attribution.
  • Deliver weekly performance reports the Growth Marketer and Pod Lead can hand to clients without rewriting.

What you bring

  • 3+ years hands-on Meta Ads experience managing $50K+/month in client spend.
  • Working Google Ads knowledge (Search + Performance Max).
  • Fluent in performance reporting — you read numbers without losing the plot.
  • Calm under spend pressure. You don’t panic-kill or YOLO budgets when results dip.

Nice to have

  • TikTok Ads, including Spark / Partnership Ads.
  • Shopify analytics + post-purchase attribution tools (Triple Whale, Northbeam).
  • Experience scaling accounts past $200K/month.

Creators / Affiliate Manager

Builds and runs CMG clients’ creator and affiliate programs. Recruits, briefs, pays, scales.

What you’ll do

  • Source, recruit, and onboard creators for each client’s program — UGC, affiliate, and Partnership Ads.
  • Write outreach, brief partners, and manage the back-and-forth that gets content shipped on time.
  • Run the affiliate platform of record (GoAffPro, ShareASale, Impact, or similar) — commissions, codes, payouts.
  • Partner with the Media Buyer to whitelist top creators into Partnership / Spark Ads.
  • Maintain a creator pipeline by client and category so we can scale quickly when a brand wants to grow.

What you bring

  • 2+ years managing creator and/or affiliate programs for DTC brands.
  • Fluent in Instagram and TikTok creator ecosystems.
  • Strong written outreach — high reply rates from cold DMs and email.
  • Comfortable with affiliate platforms and creator contracting.

Nice to have

  • Talent management or PR background.
  • TikTok Shop operator experience.
  • Network of US/EU creators ready to plug into new brands.

Project Manager

Keeps the pod’s client engagements on track. Kickoffs, sprint cadence, deliverables, status, escalations.

What you’ll do

  • Run weekly client standups; keep the engagement on schedule and the client confident.
  • Maintain client roadmaps in Linear / Notion; tie tickets to outcomes, not just tasks.
  • Run internal pod sprints — weekly cadence, blockers tracked, retro every two weeks.
  • Ship status reports the Pod Lead can sign off without rewriting.
  • Escalate blockers early. You see the trainwreck before it happens.

What you bring

  • 3+ years agency or services PM experience.
  • Strong written and spoken English — you run client meetings without a translator in the room.
  • Fluent in Linear, Notion, or equivalent. You don’t need a tool to be told to use it.
  • Can run a meeting AND write the recap. Both well.

Nice to have

  • Performance marketing or DTC ecommerce background.
  • Technical fluency — you can talk to the AI Developers without translation.
  • PMP or equivalent.

Growth Content Video Editor

Cuts the short-form video content that fuels CMG’s paid + organic motion. UGC, ads, hooks, retention edits.

What you’ll do

  • Edit short-form (15–60s) video for paid social, organic TikTok / Reels / Shorts, and UGC remixes.
  • Cut multiple hook variants per ad to feed the Media Buyer’s testing matrix.
  • Layer captions, sound design, and motion graphics. Hold attention through the first three seconds.
  • Take raw UGC and turn it into ad-ready content with the brand’s voice intact.
  • Ship in Premiere, DaVinci, or CapCut — the format that fits the client’s downstream workflow.

What you bring

  • 2+ years short-form video editing for DTC / ecommerce brands.
  • Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Strong sense of hook architecture — the first 3 seconds matter more than the last 30.
  • Fast turnaround. You can ship 5–10 variants per brief without losing quality.

Nice to have

  • Motion graphics (After Effects).
  • AI video tools (Runway, Pika, ElevenLabs).
  • Sound design and music licensing fluency.

Pod Lead US-side

Runs the pod. Owns client relationships, P&L for the pod’s book of business, and the quality of work shipping out the door.

What you’ll do

  • Own the pod’s book of business — up to 10 client accounts. P&L responsibility within the pod cost envelope.
  • Be the senior face for clients. Run kickoffs, quarterly reviews, and the hard conversations when work needs to change.
  • Coach the offshore pod — raise the floor on craft, hold the standard on quality, give direct feedback weekly.
  • Spot scope creep and budget risk before it bites. Renegotiate or escalate.
  • Partner with the Delivery Lead on hiring, performance management, and pod evolution.

What you bring

  • 5+ years in agency or services leadership — ideally DTC, performance marketing, or growth-focused.
  • Run-the-room presence with founders and CMOs.
  • Comfortable with both the strategy and the spreadsheet.
  • Strong eye for creative quality and analytical rigor — you can grade ads AND read a P&L.

Nice to have

  • P&L ownership at a prior agency or studio.
  • Network of DTC founder relationships you can mine for referrals.
  • Experience managing offshore teams across multiple time zones.

IoT / Physical AI Engineer Specialty

Builds the hardware POCs and physical-world integrations that bridge CMG’s clients into our AI agent layer — connected products, in-store sensors, smart packaging, proximity flows.

What you’ll do

  • Ship POC hardware projects for CMG client briefs — connected products, in-store sensors, smart packaging, RFID/NFC checkout, location-aware experiences.
  • Integrate BLE (mesh, beacon, GATT), NFC (HCE, peer-to-peer, tag programming), and LoRaWAN (TTN, ChirpStack) with cloud and client systems.
  • Full-stack: firmware on the device, edge compute, backend APIs, lightweight web/app dashboards so a non-technical client can see the POC live.
  • Bridge physical hardware to our in-house AI agents — sensor data in, agent decisions out.
  • Partner with AI Developers to translate physical-world events into the same agent infrastructure they already run.
  • Ship demo-ready POCs the client can put on a desk, in a store, or on a trade-show floor in 30–60 days.

What you bring

  • Claude Code ninja. You drive AI-pair coding fluently — full-stack features shipped in days, not weeks. Non-negotiable; it’s how CMG ships fast.
  • Production embedded experience (Embedded C/C++, Rust, MicroPython) on ESP32, Nordic nRF, STM32, or Raspberry Pi.
  • Strong BLE protocol fluency — mesh, beacon, advertising, GATT services, pairing.
  • NFC working knowledge: HCE on Android, peer-to-peer, tag write/read, NDEF.
  • LoRaWAN deployment experience: device classes, gateways, network servers (TTN, ChirpStack, Helium).
  • Full-stack web/app: TypeScript, Node, Next.js, React Native. Can ship the dashboard the client sees, not just the firmware.
  • Calm with prototype-grade hardware — soldering, breadboarding, basic oscilloscope and logic-analyzer work.

Nice to have

  • PCB design (KiCad, Altium) — even at the schematic-and-handoff level.
  • Industrial design / 3D modeling (Fusion 360, OnShape) for enclosures.
  • AWS IoT Core or Azure IoT Hub for production-grade fleets.
  • Edge ML / computer vision (TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime, edge inference).
  • Past work that went from POC to manufacturing (DFM mindset).
  • Bluetooth Auracast, UWB, Matter / Thread — emerging protocols.
